What is DreamWork/BodyWork?
|
|
|
Psychotherapists, social workers, and practitioners who work
employ body-related therapies understand that all people
experience trauma; and that healing trauma is best resolved at
nonverbal levels. Working with individual dreams and images,
DreamWork/BodyWork demonstrates a model for empowering the
dreamer, while simultaneously providing a path for
understanding the trauma and its resolution.

TWO-HOUR INTRODUCTION TO EMOTIONAL FREEDOM
TECHNIQUE/TAPPING $15
Prior to the DreamWork/BodyWork
Workshop, on Saturday from 1-3 p.m., Dr. Suzan Thompson will
present this two-hour introduction:
Experience a
powerful tool for personal transformation that combines two
well-established sciences, mind-body medicine and acupressure,
so you can benefit from both at the same time.
You'll
come away from this workshop with a new, cutting-edge
technique to begin to transform your energy, thoughts and
feelings.
This 2-hour workshop is a combination of
information, activities, learning tools and resources.
You will...
· Find out about the fundamentals of
energy psychology and EFT/tapping · Learn the background
knowledge you need to begin to transform your own experiences.
· Develop your skills by participating in experiential
exercises, and · Fine-tune your personal approach to
dealing with life's difficulties, helping you shift your
energy related to thoughts and feelings.
We'll work on
emotional issues by tapping on certain meridian points with
our fingertips. This addresses one cause for emotional issues
(unbalanced energy meridians). You'll find that you can often
quickly heal emotional and psychological blocks to a healthier
expression of thoughts and emotions. And, since emotional
stress can contribute to pain, disease and physical ailments,
we often find that this energy psychology tool provides
incredible physical relief.
Presenter: Suzan K.
Thompson, Ph.D., is a Licensed Professional Counselor with a
private practice in Virginia Beach, VA. She has a strong
interest in integrating complementary and alternative
approaches into the counseling process. She uses a variety of
healing modalities and specializes in helping people who are
struggling with distressing events and trauma.

workshop, the Anahata Community will provide a delicious,

WHO SHOULD ATTEND THIS
WORKSHOP
Even if we don't remember dreams on a regular
basis, many of us remember dreams from childhood or dreams
that are called "peak experiences." DreamWork/BodyWork
demonstrates a model that empowers us to listen to our dreams
and learn from them at the deepest level of feeling, through
accessing body memory. In this way, DreamWork/BodyWork
provides the tools for understanding trauma while also
accessing the source of potential resolution. Anyone who
dreams...or who uses creative imagery...is invited to attend
this workshop.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
* To
recognize in the body what might be called the initial trauma
in someone's life and how that affects responses to subsequent
trauma * To experience how the body holds and records
information and how that information can be accessed * To
see how dreams and personal imagery contain the information
necessary to allow healing * To learn something about the
process of healing trauma, even "forgotten" trauma
WHAT TO BRING
Bring your dreams. Wear comfortable,
loose-fitting clothes. Feel free to bring a pillow or mat for
sitting and working on, snacks, water, and a notebook or
recording device (cell phones allowed only if they are very,
very quiet).
